Day 8: Arrival In London

We left Scotland on May 23rd and took a 5 hour train ride to London. We arrived at King’s Cross Station and got right on a coach bus for a 3 hour tour of the city with Richard Digby Day (I had to include his name because it’s so awesome), whose main job is a British Stage Director.

I just had to post this picture of Princes Street. I took this while we were on the bus tour and it came out as this vintage looking picture and I love it! On the tour we also passed the London Bridge and the mayor’s office, which is a very cool shaped building.

We stopped at a park at the Kenwood House and Estate to take some pictures and enjoy the scenery. They had such beautiful flowers there that I couldn’t resist taking a picture.

When we finally arrived at our flats we were overcome with excitement and relief. It was like moving into heaven after being stuck in The Hostel for the past few nights! There were six of us in one flat. We had 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a living room, kitchen, and even a kitchen table! So we didn’t have air conditioning and it averaged about 80 degrees fahrenheit the whole time we were there… but that made no difference. We we all just so happy to be in a clean, spacious room with plenty of plugs all over.

Once we got settled we went to the grocery store to pick up some food for the week. A few of us got a pizza for dinner and had some issues with our oven not working so we had to use a different room’s oven. But the maintenance guy came up right away in the morning and fixed it. After we ate dinner we decided to try and find a place with free wi-fi since we didn’t have our internet set up yet. We ended up using the wi-fi at McDonald’s. We decided to stop inside King’s Cross Station which was right next door so we could check out Platform 9  3/4 (for all you Harry Potter fans out there… there will be plenty of HP in my upcoming blog posts).

Off to Hogwarts!

For once we couldn’t wait to get back to where we were staying and sleep in a nice comfy bed. The busy, non-stop adventures of London begin tomorrow!

Little Matters,

Marissa
